I totally get it if HRT is not for you and I'm certainly not advocating or advising you to go this route. This is what I found after doing an extensive amount of research and getting advice from a menopause professional before I took the decision to start using it. I can honestly say, it has been a life saver for me. Even though I knew of the risks (they are lower than you might think), I desperately wanted to feel like my old self, at least as much as I could.
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) can be a powerful option for easing symptoms such as hot flushes, mood changes, and sleep disruption by restoring the hormones your body naturally loses during menopause. For many women, it brings back energy, confidence, and a sense of balance.
However, like I mentioned, HRT isn’t for everyone. Some prefer a more natural approach, turning to homeopathic or herbal remedies like black cohosh, red clover, and evening primrose oil, which may gently support hormone balance and emotional wellbeing.
So ultimately, it’s important to weigh the benefits and risks. While HRT can protect bone and heart health, it may slightly increase the risk of breast cancer or blood clots. What matters most is finding the right path for you, one that honours your body, your comfort, and your choice.
If you are in any doubt, always seek professional advice.
