The "M" Word

Even now menopause is not something which is openly and freely discussed.  Certainly in the years I've had menopause in my life, I've felt embarrassed and worried about how I would be perceived.

That's crazy right? After all, menopause is a natural and transformative phase, a passage of life, that every woman experiences, research says this is typically between the ages of 45 and 55 (though it has to be said, this is not set in stone), some women experience symptoms sooner.  The advice is - If you are under 40 and you think you are starting menopause, please seek professional advice.

It marks the end of our reproductive years, not rocket science I know. Our ovaries gradually reduce the production of key hormones - "oestrogen", "progesterone" and "testosterone" - yes, that one was a surprise for me too.  Thought that was just for men!

These changes can bring a mix of physical and emotional symptoms such as hot flushes (the obvious one), disrupted sleep, low (or in my case, no) energy, and shifts in mood or confidence (another big one for me).

But actually menopause is so much more than just a biological change, it’s a powerful transition, an opportunity to pause, reflect, understand and reconnect with yourself.

It’s a stage that should invite growth, balance, and a deeper understanding of who you are and what truly matters.
